Villarrica is set along the edge of Lake Villarrica in the Araucania Region of Chile. It is the main tourist center along with Pucón. Several of the best restaurants in the region are located here. There is a Cultural Center that focuses on art and music, as well as shops of local art and products. There are specialty food products such as jams, patés, organic teas and coffee, local honey, cheeses, pastries and chocolates. There is a large boardwalk on the lake that starts from the dock and wraps around to the beach. Lake Villarrica features the largest black sand beach on a lake in Chile, rivaling those in Hawaii. The beach has facilities including a playground, cafe and restrooms.
